Indian Idol Season 2 winner Sandeep Acharya passed away at the age of 29 at a Gurgaon hospital on Sunday. He was suffering from jaundice. “Yes, Sandeep passed away at Medanta Hospital today. We brought him here on Decemebr 10. Before that, he was admitted to a hospital in Bikaner,” said Akshay, Acharya’s cousin.

Born and brought up at Bikaner in Rajasthan, Acharya was the winner of Indian Idol, a reality show on Sony TV, in 2006.
Soon after winning the show, Acharya released his first album ‘Mere Saath Saara Jahaan’.
“He was supposed to release his new album ‘O Sanam Tere Bina’ mid-December,” Akshay said.
Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan, who judged the reality show’s second season with music composers Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam, tweeted: “It's too sad to hear of Sandeep Acharya.... Such a gentle boy he was. Not his time to go.”
Sonu also expressed shock. “Jaundice? Gosh...very sad. The boy was just 29... God give his parents some strength,” he said on the social network site.
Anchor-actor Mini Mathur, who hosted Indian Idol 2, was taken aback. Her tweet was: “What a sad, premature goodbye to a talented, ambitious, happy boy.”

Married last year, Acharya is survived by wife and a child. After the Indian Idol success, Acharya had participated in TV show Jalwa Four 2 Ka 1.
Born on February 4, 1984, he was a science graduate and the youngest in the family of two sisters and a brother. Acharya’s last rites will be performed in his hometown Bikaner.

Local parliamentarian Arjun Ram Meghwal expressed condolence, saying the music world had lost a bright star.
